Brown bear viewing
Spend time in bear habitat with experienced wilderness guides, observing wildlife at appropriate distances and adapting to conditions in the field.
Five days and four nights in Katmai National Preserve, with approximately four days of wildlife photography opportunities, up to six guests, and a stationary wilderness camp. A small-group Alaska brown bear viewing and photography experience departing from King Salmon.
Moraine Creek and the surrounding Katmai landscape are known for their remarkable relationship between brown bears and returning salmon. Rather than trying to fit the experience into a few hours, this expedition gives a small group of guests multiple days to watch, photograph, and appreciate the rhythms of the area.
Unlike a short Katmai bear viewing day trip, our stationary wilderness camp provides a base for guided excursions and unhurried time in the field. Changing light, weather, water, and wildlife activity make each day different. There are no guarantees of particular sightings or photographic opportunities—that unpredictability is part of being in a truly wild place.

Spend time in bear habitat with experienced wilderness guides, observing wildlife at appropriate distances and adapting to conditions in the field.
Make room for patience, composition, changing light, and the unexpected moments that make wildlife photography rewarding.
Return to the same established wilderness camp each evening, with comfortable accommodations and a welcoming gathering tent. The camp also provides portable electrical power for charging camera batteries, laptops, and other small electronic devices, helping photographers manage their equipment during the expedition. Enjoy a settled base while spending your days exploring and photographing Katmai National Preserve.

Photography is shaped by changing light, weather, salmon movements and the unpredictable behavior of wild brown bears. A multi-day visit gives you more than one opportunity to experience the Moraine Creek landscape, without trying to compress everything into a single day.
Our stationary camp provides a consistent home base throughout the expedition. Guided outings can be planned around conditions and the group's interests, always subject to safe access, wildlife activity and the guides' judgment. Specific sightings, locations and light conditions cannot be promised.

“The opportunity isn't just to see a bear. It's to spend enough time in the country to begin understanding the place it calls home.”
Travel begins from King Salmon, Alaska, the departure hub for this four-night wilderness experience. Plan for a midday arrival on Day 1 and a midday departure on Day 5, subject to weather and aircraft schedules. The trip is based at a stationary camp in the Moraine Creek area, with outings planned around weather, wildlife activity, and guest interests.
Because conditions in remote Alaska change quickly, daily plans remain flexible. Safety, wildlife considerations, and the judgment of your guides take priority over any particular photo opportunity.
Departure dates, transportation arrangements, camp specifics, equipment recommendations, and the full list of inclusions will be confirmed during the inquiry and booking process.
Alaska Rainbow Adventures has operated remote Alaska wilderness trips since 1993. That experience with transportation coordination, camp operations, river travel and guiding is central to this Moraine Creek offering.
The objective is to give guests time to observe and photograph the landscape and its wildlife while experienced wilderness personnel manage the practical demands of a remote camp. We discuss individual interests and expectations before booking.
This is a guided wilderness bear-viewing and photography trip, not a promise of professional camera instruction or a photography workshop. If you want specialized photographic coaching, ask us about options before booking.
All activities and access are subject to applicable National Park Service requirements, wildlife considerations and conditions in the field.

Expect uneven ground, variable weather, and the realities of a remote tent camp. We will discuss mobility, comfort, and expectations with prospective guests.
All viewing is guided and conducted with wildlife safety in mind. Bears remain wild animals, and viewing distances and access depend on conditions.

Professional wildlife photographers and photography tour operators may already have the clients and photographic expertise, but need an experienced Alaska wilderness operator to support a remote expedition.

If you lead photography tours, tell us your proposed dates, number of guests and leaders, desired length of stay, and which services you need. We can discuss what is practical rather than advertise a one-size-fits-all itinerary.
