The 2020 Schedule
Alagnak River June Trips
June Dates - Alagnak River trips are scheduled by request starting June 8, 2020 / Contact us if interested 907-357-0251
If Alaska has another warm winter, and it has been so far, this could be one of the most epic trout weeks of the year. Early each Summer throughout Alaska, the juvenile salmon that have wintered in local lakes begin their sprint to the Sea. After a long Winter this is just the type of bio-mass that voracious Rainbow Trout, Lake trout, and other predator species key on. We’re there with streamers and big fry patterns, targeting Bigger Fish among channels and braids we’ve learned over decades of experience.
June Trips to the Alagnak are available as Intimate Rivers or Fisherman's Standard style trips out of King Salmon, Alaska from $3995.00 pp and up.
Arolik River Float Trip
June Dates - Scheduled By Request
When guests ask “Where would you go if you could choose?” ~ This might be it! The Arolik is smaller than most of the waters we float and at times she can extract a toll as the Arolik can be low at times especially over the first ten miles or so therefore a bit of work can be required of all participants.. That said the fishing is well worth the extra effort as the best places usually are, that’s what makes them the best.
This trip offers exceptional angling for Chinook in Mid June to Late July, Silvers in August and we are not going to talk about the rainbows, Grayling and Char....Shhhh!! Arolik trips can be booked June through mid to late September depending upon group needs, scheduling and availability or resources. Flexibility on dates strongly encouraged, please call for details and to check availability!
Trips to the Arolik are available as Intimate Rivers or Fisherman's Standard style trips out of Bethel, Alaska from $5395.00 pp and up.
June - Early July / Dates - Scheduled By Request
Flowing from Hamersley lake in Katmai National Preserve Alaska, American Creek starts out on this on a high plateau then flows through a long, inaccessible canyon on its way to Lake Colville. The upper section just below the outlet of Hamersley Lake is a spectacular setting, and can provide some outstanding fly-fishing both early and late in the season it is said that the finest Alaska rainbow trout dry fly fishing in the state can be had on this stretch of water and we agree! While American creek is for the most part an easy to wade smaller stream it does have some challenging white water at times as well as rock gardens and sweepers, you can expect the rafts to get hung on rocks and other obstacles, and you will likely have to assist your guides in getting the boat moving again even helping portage boats and gear around log jams so we can get on down the creek to that next great fishing spot!
Only those in good physical condition should consider attempting this adventure! / Available as Intimate Rivers Trip from King Salmon, Alaska from $4195.00 pp
Alagnak River ~ Sockeyefest. An annual tradition, so good it earned its own name.
Trip Dates - Early To Mid July
It's “Sockeyefest” ~ So much more then just about Sockeye Salmon, there are also amazing leopard rainbows to be had! This is one of our most popular and anticipated trips of the entire season. Join us in the Katmai region of Alaska at the peak of the Bristol Bay sockeye salmon run. Millions, yes, millions of chrome torpedo's, surging up the areas rivers in a seemingly never-ending procession make for Non-Stop, knuckle busting, pole bending, tail walking, holler-until-you’re-hoarse, action. These are the days of multiple species of salmon, beautifully spotted trout, t-shirts, farmers tans, and perma-grins.
Fisherman's Standard or Fisherman's Deluxe style trips available from King Salmon, Alaska $4495.00 pp and up.
Trip Dates - July 4 to 11 ~ Limited Spaces Remaining
Nothing says Summer in Alaska like 20 hours of daylight, and some of the best topwater rainbow fishing of the year while they are still looking up! Before the salmon completely flood the river the Kanektok's rainbows are chasing smolt, mice, and nearly any other pattern as long as you get them in the water, none of this eggs n flesh fixation you see later in the year (Not that that is a bad thing) But if you like to fish top water for rainbows this is your trip! Sockeye season is picking up the pace, the longest days and shortest nights of Summer. Miles and miles of mountains, river channels and beauty, with the only thing topping the location is the fishing. Also available later in the trip are good numbers of King and chum salmon as well as dolly varden too. We strongly however suggest that you pack lots of mouse patterns!
Intimate Rivers or Kanektok Style Trip from Bethel, Alaska ~ Eight Days and Seven Nights from $5195.00 pp and up.
Trip Dates - June 30 to July 7 or July 9 to 16
King Salmon runs have been picking up the last few years on the Goodnews, this might be the time to for you to partake. Most of this action is in the lower portion of the river. Between the lake and there look for hungry rainbows on top water patterns and mice, sockeye salmon, grayling and early arriving dolly varden.

Back to the Arolik River

More Arolik River - Just can't get enough of a good thing!! One of the most fly fish-able waters in Alaska, the Arolik River is remote, abundant, and beautiful as it flows forty five miles through the tundra of far Southwest Alaska and while it is best known for the world class Rainbow that lurk in it's waters it's salmon fishery is nothing to be sneezed about, be it coho's crushing wogs on topwater, beautifully colored dollies or it's world class rainbows the Arolik just plain rocks the angling world!
*Fisherman's Standard Style Trip $6295.00pp from Bethel, Alaska
Trip Dates - Scheduled By Request, We suggest taking ten days in Mid August.
Kwethluk River More than "100 miles" of Fish, Fun and Solitude. Beginning with the portage from a small lake to the river, including the winding and twisty shallows of the mountainous upper stretches, through the wood-laden braids and channels, all the way to the slow flowing oxbows as it flows towards the Kuskokwim River, the Kwethluk is a not a river for the inexperienced. This float covers over 100 miles, which is why it is best done as a 10 day trip in order to take full advantage of all the Kwethluk has to offer. Be it Alaskan Leopard Rainbows slamming at mouse flies or Coho Salmon absolutely crushing poppers, August is the month for the best fishing this river sees. We suggest nine or ten days for your trip.

Goodnews River Co-Ho-Ho-Holy C***!!! It's go time ~ Many of our guests consider our last two Goodnews River trips of the season to be arguably the best of the trips we offer on this river each season. By now the Dolly-Varden are coming into their full, stunning, spawning colors, and they -along with the mighty Coho Salmon- are dispersed throughout the entire river system. The long days of Summer are waning and this brings longer, colder nights, which in turn makes the resident Trout and Char begin to feed all the more enthusiastically with the thought of leaner, winter days ahead.
Fisherman's Standard style trip from Bethel, Alaska. ~ $5595.00 pp includes flights to and from the river. Eight Days / Seven Nights
Goodnews River ~
Trip Dates - September 10 to the 18th
Goodnews River Saving the best for last. By now our Western Alaska Crew has seen this river as many as five times this season, and the anticipation of this final float on the News has been building with every passing week. The Char fishing will be in it's prime, the Rainbow Trout will be hammering everything from beads, to streamers to mice, and the Coho will be everywhere, hitting everything and almost anything you throw at them.. These are true campfire tales type of trips, given that by now we have those wondrous Fall Alaskan nights, with the possibility of Northern Lights and nothing winds down an epic day quite like a popping driftwood fire. The longer nights mean shorter days, and as the season winds down, the fishing inevitably ramps up for resident species gorging themselves with calories for the impending long winter.
Fisherman's Standard style trip from Bethel, Alaska. ~ $5595.00 pp includes flights to and from the river. Eight Days / Seven Nights ~ Recommended additional days available.
Trip Start Date - September 10 ~ < Note: This is a fixed start date for this trip
The Seasons Final Hurrah in SW Alaska. September 10th to 17 or 19 A truly epic time of year, and a truly epic trip. The banks are littered with the spawned out carcasses of the seasons salmon runs, snow is teasing the mountain peaks, each morning holds the possibility of skims of ice along the shoreline, the once lush green leaves of summer are now golden, fluttering reminders that winter is almost here. What better time to target big, slashing Rainbow Trout who are making their final push to saturate themselves with fat before being locked under the ice for months and months? Late season Coho will still be present, milling in sloughs and deep holes, ready to charge your streamer, or lunge into the air after a pollywog. Our last trip of the season out west is one that never disappoints, and always leaves us and our guests in awe of the fishing, the river, and all it's environment.
Kanektok Style trip from Bethel, Alaska. ~ $5495.00 pp includes flights to and from the river. Eight Days / Seven Nights ~ Recommended additional days available.
Moraine Creek / Alagnak Combo Trip

Much 'quieter' in the fall then earlier in the season when the Moraine can be crowded by Alaska standards at this time the Moraine has become a haven for Anglers wanting to get in on the fattest fish of the year, at a time when many of the lodges have closed up and gone home for the season! This is when the Moraine offers up excellent numbers of very fat "Wild" Alaska Rainbows that have been gorging all season making it a true "World Class" Fly Fishing destination! Weather can be a bit iffy but if you hit this one right it can be well worth the trip. After four days it's off to the braids of the Alagnak to chase silver salmon and more fat rainbow for the remainder of the trip.
